GOALS & NEEDS Metro Street Focus
Organization For the Homeless is
a non-profit, charitable and
humanitarian body incorporated
under the laws of Ontario and
governed by a voluntary Board of
Directors. It was established to
provide support and assistance to
street youth, their families and
other homeless who may be
grappling with issues of hunger
and deprivation, poverty,
addiction, mental illness,
physical disability or
debilitating medical
conditions. Metro Street Focus
Organization is a registered
charity with Revenue Canada.
Youth
Environmental Education
Metro Street Focus
Organization organizes on regular
basis Youth Environmental
Education Program for Street
Youth. Our target population for
this project are the high risk
unemployed youth across the city
of Toronto. The program normally
assists the unemployed youth at
risk placed with our organization
for a six to nine month period
through which time they would
acquire some life and basic
computer skills such as word
processing, Internet, on-the-job
experience etc. That would
prepare them for the labour
market or encourage them to go
back to school to take up
additional challenging skills.
Upon successful completion of
this program, the participant
would have acquired the following
job skills.

processing and office
filing skills
- Exploring
the internet
- Job
search techniques
- Telephone
inquiries and customer
service
In addition to the
above skills, the participants
would also acquire the following
job search skills to help them in
looking for a job with less
difficulties:
- How
to design a job search
plan
- Prior
learning and credentials

upgrading and skills
training
- How
to access and market
their employability
skills
- Understand
work culture
- Get
information on local
labor market/trends
- Access
hidden job markets/job
leads
- Prepare
effective resume/cover
letter/job
applications
- Effective
telephone contacts to
employers
- Job
interview and follow-up
strategies
- Workers
Rights & Employment

training room at 1110 Finch
Avenue West Suite 210, as
follows:

Food /
Personal Hygiene Distribution
Services
Since its
inception, Metro Focus
Organization has helped hundreds
of homeless people on Toronto
Streets by providing the
following services:
- Soup,
sandwiches and beverages
- Clothing,
blankets, sleeping bags,
shoes
- Personal
hygiene items, condom
distribution, needle
exchange
- Transportation
services - access to
hospitals,
hostels/shelters
- Access
to other services as
required or
necessary
Financial
contributions to Street Patrol
will enable us to respond where
the need is greatest at any given
time. The following are some
areas where financial donations
will be directed:
- Food
items
- Program
supplies
- Operation
costs
- Personal
hygiene items
- Additional
vans for distribution of
items and street
patrols
- Office
equipment such as
computers/printers, fax
machines, photocopiers,
etc.
- Benevolent
fund to assist people to
get off the street and
return to their home
community or
reserve
