CMMS focus its conflict resolution service towards the following areas of dispute:

Kinds of Dispute:

    - Noise

    - Vandalism
    - Parking
    - Fences, Property issues
  • (2) Landlord/Tenant Problems
    - Rent
    - Maintenance
    - Privacy
    - Noise
  • (3) Family Conflicts
    Family members, Housemates, Roommates, etc.)
  • (4) Friendship Disputes
  • (5) Workplace Disputes
    (Interpersonal relations)
  • (6) Teen-Adult problems
    (School, Home, Neighbourhood)



OTHER SERVICES AT CMMS


For Refugee And Newcomer Immigrants:

Social integration program through the help of host volunteers who assist newcomers to face challenges while they are settling in Canada.

Settlement services provided to newcomers for integrating and settling into the community, information and referrals on issues such as housing, education and Canadian law are given to newcomers to help them settle in their new communities.

Provides interpretation services in English, French and major African languages and translate all necessary documents for refugee determination hearing.

Assistance with completing all necessary forms pertaining to refugee claims, sponsorship and landing.


For the Community:

CONFLICT RESOLUTION
The Conflict Resolution Service offered by CMMS helps community members resolve conflicts both in their personal and professional lives.


COUNSELING SERVICES
Counseling services on anger management, parenting, andmarital are offered by experienced counselors from faith organizations across the Greater Toronto Area.


YOUTH PROGRAMS

CMMS organizes youth programs on violence, peer mediation,AIDS Awareness, Drug free seminars where young people can meet with counselors and talk about their individual concerns.

Youths are given opportunity to learn employment skills that will aid them secure summer jobs.

CMMS educates youth to develop civic responsibilities in the communities where they live

Youths are encouraged to participate in various volunteer opportunities within their communities.


AIDS/ DRUG AWARENESS PROGRAMS:
Providing assistance to persons in coping with the effects of substance abuse by offering education and counseling and by establishing mutual support groups.

CMMS provides services to the community about causes and effects of treatments for, substance abuse, by offering courses, seminars, conferences and meetings and by collecting and disseminating information on that topic.

  • Provides information and assistance on access to suitable housing, employment, quality education and legal services.
  • Job search workshops for newcomers. These 3-day workshops are FREE.


Employment Training/Resource Centre:

  • CMMS will provide a range of services to job seekers including access to computers and Internet, photocopier, phone and fax services, training programs and counselling.

Mediation Services:

  • The Conflict Resolution Service offered by CMMS helps community members resolve conflicts both in their personal and professional lives.


This Group and Individual Session Includes:

  • Dealing with the Law
  • Dealing with anger and conflict resolution. The anger management program is designed at help individuals minimize their anger outbursts and learning how to react to conflict situations in a positive manner
  • Forming and communication skills and coping strategies
  • Effective Communication Skills and coping strategies
  • Drug abuse and misuse
  • Transition to education, training or employment
  • Support for parents of incarcerated youth, to strengthen family bonds
    and to help with making successful transitions
  • Attendance at school and drop outs
  • Conflict Resolution Training
